Parkour Roll
Arguably the most important technique. Significantly reduces impact damage from drops by spreading the force over a larger area and a longer duration. |
| |
Two Handed Vault |
A simple vault for passing over most
obstacles in a forward direction. Your hands are placed on the
obstacle and your legs/body follow to the side.
| |
Kong/Monkey Vault
Not vastly different to the two handed vault. Instead you dive into it, placing your hands on the
obstacle and then your legs follow through between your arms.
| |
Turn Vault
Useful for situations where you are unsure of the terrain on the other side of an
obstacle or for where there is a big drop on the other side.
| |
Lazy/Switch Vault
Ideal for where there is no viable route directly in front of you but vaulting the wall or rail along side you would allow you to carry on in the right direction.
| |
Pop Vault
Used in situations where the wall is too high to vault using conventional methods. Instead you take several steps up the wall, then throw yourself over when you have reached a comfortable
height. |
| |
Speed Vault
A single handed vault done at high speed. Possibly the fastest way to get over the vast majority of low
obstacles. |
| |
Dash Vault
A two handed vault where you
approach the obstacle straight on, kick your legs up, then as you fly over the top your hands go back and are used to push off so you land back on your feet.
| |
Precision Jump
The technique used to get from one place to another with speed and accuracy, clearing a gap between the two points.
| |
Tic-Tac
A horizontal run along the side of a vertical wall. Can be used diagonally to get to higher places or to avoid other
obstacles directly in your path. |
| |
Wall Hop |
A vertical run up the side of a vertical wall. Useful for climbing to higher levels and forms the basis of a pop vault.
| |
Underbar |
An effective way of rapidly traversing through a narrow gap between two walls or rails.
| |
Cat Leap |
A method of clearing a gap between two surfaces where the chosen landing point is too high to precision onto and too far away to pass over using a
conventional vault. |
| |
Palm Spin |
A technique which can be done on the top of a wall or rail which involves rotating your entire body on the same plane as the
obstacle. |
| |
Hand Spring |
Movement achieved by throwing your hands to the ground and letting your body rotate and follow the momentum created. Useful for clearing low
obstacles. Can make learning rail springs easier.
| |
Rail Spring |
A two handed vault well suited to higher
obstacles. Somtimes used in place of a dive roll if there is a large drop to contend with. |
