Pk in a Gale

Length :: 1min 34s
Date :: 27/12/04
Location :: St Anne’s (Lancashire)

Description
This video was made when I needed to PK and not even the weather could stop me. It was filmed in St Anne’s, Lancashire in the middle of a storm. 70mph winds allowed me to do standing precisions across further distances than I have ever considered before. The ability to find new places to PK that I had not seen before encouraged me to make a video.

Description
This was my very last jam of 2004 in Reading before heading back to Devon to spend Christmas.
After warming up at the usual spots, we walked over to a new place, caversham park which Hib discovered the previous week. Upon arrival we found the place was packed with potential and was a refreshing change from some of the other places which were getting a bit stale. Having not attempted any front flips since first doing them a month ago in Austria, I lost all my confidence and was too scared to try them again. After finding a large sandpit at Caversham, Andy was determined to get me to do them again and by the end of the day we had succeeded.

Description
A short video detailing my progression of learning front flips. Most of it were taken from the Europe trip as this is where I learnt to do them outside for the very first time. While jamming in Austria with another local traceur we came across a park with a surface that consisted of rounded pebbles 1ft deep. Upon realising just how soft this was to jump in, it gave me the confidence I needed to give front flips a try. The next day I was actually successfully landing them on grass but sadly I have no video evidence of this. Worse still, by the time I got back to England a week later I was unable to do them at all. This is not a particularly exciting video, but to me forms an important part of my overall progression.

Description
Recently I went to Austria by car to visit family. We were driving on motorways near Paris when I suddenly realised we were very near the birthplace of Parkour. Knowing the dame du lac couldn't be far away, I logged onto MSN on my PDA and tried to get more info from Danny about it's exact location. Suffice to say, after speaking to some locals and reprogramming the GPS it didn't take us long to find it. While I was not able to do much PK there because we were very short of time, it was still an amazing experience which words or video could never properly portray. Upon reaching Austria, using the internet I managed to contact a local traceur in the next City and we spent all of Wednesday doing Parkour around Linz.

31 October Reading Jam

Description
If I remember correctly, this was the first time the oxford guys ventured down to PK with us in Reading. Was a great day had by all, and was nice to finally meet these guys, as the jam was meant to happen for months. Looking at it now, the lyrics ‘go with the flow’ aren’t as appropriate as I thought they were at the time I edited it.

Description
This was filmed at the 24th October jam but we had so much footage it was decided to make two separate videos. This is about an hour of PK tag at the pru cut down to two minutes. For those of you who haven't worked it out already, PK tag is just like a normal game of tag, but incorporating an obstacle rich environment which is used to the players advantage. As well as being a lot of fun PK tag is very useful as it naturally encourages you to do everything at speed, think quickly and continue a proper run involving every available obstacle rather than just stopping after one or two vaults.

A mixed-up overview of one of our jams in reading, made ever better by the senile mutterings of Danny (you lazy bastards!). We didn’t really set out with a goal in mind, like many of my videos it just shaped itself while being made, going through 3 different approaches and soundtracks to find a good mix.

Description
My 2nd PK jam in Reading, and interestingly everyone who attended that day became who you now know as silent motion. Back then the quality of my Parkour was very poor leaving me plenty of time to sit down and film whilst watching in awe of things which seemed impossible at the time. It was so long ago now I don't remember much detail about what happened that day, but it cant have been bad as everyone there has remained good friends ever since. From a personal point of view I really like this video to compare with some of our newer ones, as it made me realise just how much we have all progressed in such a short period of time, and makes me wonder just what we will all be capable of in a year from now.

Description
This was the first time I had done Parkour in R
eading. Using the net I found out about a local Parkour group, 'r-pk' and that they were meeting at the station at 11am. Eagar to meet up with some other traceurs, myself and Hib got up early and made our way into town to try and find the station. At first I thought we didn't  have a chance of finding them, but then saw someone run up a wall and immediately knew it must be them. I approached them and tried to introduce myself but they seemed to ignore me at first (Pete thought I was a chav from his school) only after I did a turn vault over the wall did Dave realise I must be a real traceur and not someone trying to take the piss. We spent the rest of the day with them, I progressed loads, and as they say.. the rest is history :P

I suppose this was the first properly edited video I had done, and we all worked really hard for it. When it was finally finished it showed how much we had progressed as a group (just r-pk at the time) since stay off the grass. This was, I think, the start of actual PK and in that sense acts as a good marker for us. The whole thing was edited in windows movie maker might I add as well. Hah!

Description
This is my second Parkour video which shows noticeable improvement since the last one. A friend asked me if I could bring my camera and film him doing PK but in the end he did very little and spent most of the time filming me instead. As there has been some confusion, I feel I should note that the person that jumps off the bench and rolls right over their head is Ryan, not me!.
This is likely to be my last video filmed in Devon for a while as soon I will be starting at Reading uni, and therefore moving to Reading.

Description
Having watched jump London, read lots of info about PK on the net, and waited for the weather to dry up, I was just getting to the stage where I knew enough to practice some of the basic movements. Being a lone traceur at that stage hampered my progression and to make matters worse I was rather self conscious and hated the thought of people watching me. To solve the latter of problems, I woke up at 5:30am on a sunny July morning, and made my way over to a quiet coastal spot about an hours walk from home. Despite being so early it was still incredibly hot but also so peaceful with no disturbances as all normal people were still in bed. The PK is not amazing, but it was a good attempt for a first video.

Description
This video was made from the first 5 months of footage we got when we first started just after Christmas 03. The Parkour, if you could even call it that, was all very basic and messy. You have to remember that this was all back in the day where konging a picnic bench was serious business. It’s a good laugh at least.
