Description

I was fortunate enough to be joined by both Minidave and Nikk on one of my usual Newbury training days. Since most Reading traceurs do not visit Newbury, this video kind of showcases some of the possibilities within the small number of areas we trained in during the day. Dave (larger) did join us for the first couple of hours, but left due early because his shoulder injury had not yet healed. It was very cold, but fortunately for us it was dry and not slippery, so our training wasn’t hindered much. Newbury has a tendency to appear to offer little at first, but as you get used to the surroundings some unusual training situations appear, creating very different opportunities compared to our usual Reading surroundings. We like change.

Description

This video is only compiled of the last 2 hours of the gym session, due to the horrific traffic on the way there that 5 of us were stuck in. The 1.5hour trip turned into a 5 hour drive, resulting in a far shorter gym session than everyone else who went. Upon arriving the 5 of us ran up and into the gym and got right down to business. A great day overall with lots of fun and progression had by all, and unfortunately several injuries as well. You will need the DivX codec to play this video, so if there is no picture/sound/it doesn't work at all, then that's bound to be the reason why.

Description

This was a great jam, though sadly the footage doesnt really reflect this. We were all far too busy enjoying ourselves to put any effort into filming anything properly. This in a way was a milestone for silentmotion, exactly a year since most of us first met. This was also the day we invited Nikk to join us. It was nice to see some old faces and several new ones too. Not quite sure what it was, but this jam was very much how the jams in reading used to be a while back, with everyone making a lot of progression and in general, a very relaxed, fun atmosphere. I 're learnt' dash vaults and landed some baranis outside for the first time. Dave and Danny were doing huge speed vaults and Andy did some frontflips covering an insane distance.

Description

This was an amazing jam. Despite traveling for 7 hours from devon & back, costing me about £45 for the day it was money well spent. I arrived in reading at 10:50am and headed out of the station to find just a few traceurs from oxford. A few minutes later more from reading appeared and were somewhat supprised to see me as I had not given any hint I was going to be there. A large portion of the day was spent at caversham trying every type of inversion imaginable into the sandpits and everyone was joining in, from relative beginners to the very experienced. Later we went over to the prison walls where people were doing some insane wall flips and finally we went over to the hexagon underground where a huge game of PDQ ensued (See below). The day ended back at caversham where I did some very silly frontflips before rushing back home.

Description

"PDQ stands for 'pretty darn quick.' It’s a quick paced jumping game in which players try to tag the feet of other players to get them out." The game originates from the town of Lincoln, MA (USA) but no one actually knows when it was invented or who by. On the afternoon of the same day 'Reading Summer Tricking' was filmed, we all headed over to the hexagon underground and after doing a bit of pk, organised a huge game of PDQ. It was a lot of fun with so many people playing, much better than when there is just a handful of people. The video isnt heavily edited and closely reflects the relaxed atmosphere present on the day.

Description

Being back at home over the summer miles away from woking gym, I was determained to find somewhere else go to. After speaking with Levity I found that the gym they used wasnt too far from me so after sorting out transport arrangements, headed over there after work. Upon arrival I met up with Dave, Kyle, Dev, Rob and a few other traceurs from the plymouth/ivybridge area. The gym session itself was very good. £3 for 1.5 hours, large sprung floor area + foam pit, and better yet you can do what ever you want (within reason) including any parkour. Warmed up with a few backflips and standing frontflips but then quickly moved on to take part in the rare oppertunity to practice wall spins, speed vaults and double kongs in a soft environment. Had a lot of fun and hope to go again somtime in the future.

Description

My first proper jam back at home for the summer. Met up in teignmouth with a traceur from spain who was on holiday and we both progressed a lot. Found a huge vertical wall hop which I couldnt do the last time I was there and came accross some very nice precisions which werent too big, yet big enough to provide a challenge. This was a first for many things including frontflips on flat ground and backflips outside. The weather was redicuously hot and I ended up feeling very sick and had to go for a swim to cool off. We spent the rest of the afternoon practicing speed vaults and silent landings before finishing up playing a game of football against the french! (Still not quite sure where they all appeared from!)

Description

Andy & I went over to Woking gym to work on flips and other things best tried in a soft environment. For the first time Andy was landing back flips consistently, unsupported on flat ground. Also with mike spotting me, for the first time ever I actually did some half decent back flips, and even managed to tuck! The journey back involved a change at Virginia Water Station where I found a very nice Kong to precision between two benches. After a couple of attempts we were both able to land it. There was also the potential for a dive Kong onto the furthest bench, but due to tiredness and lack of light I decided it would be best to save that one for another day.

Description
This video, coupled with the gym video, was created for use in my final exam for art gcse. I was given the title ‘identity’, and so decided to incorporate Parkour into my final design. The video itself was played on a laptop inside a chest of drawers that I plastered with photos, paintings and stencils in the exam itself. I intended to make the video roughly 15 minutes long, but ran out of time to film and edit the 3rd part of the video in Newbury. This was all filmed on April 17th when some of the Oxford guys ventured to Reading. This features myself (Mini Dave), Danny and some of Jonny from Oxford. Thanks to Jonny, Alex, Nikk and Gary for helping with the filming.

Description
This video was filmed back at home during the Easter holidays.
Since jump Britain aired a lot more people in South Devon had started taking Parkour seriously so it was nice to be able to jam with like minded people without having to travel to Exeter or Plymouth. For various reasons few people could make it but Joe and I managed to get some pretty good footage. The idea was to film a run video covering all of Torbay but we managed to spend nearly 6 hours at old way and then it started raining so it had to be cut short. Overall it was a good day and I progressed a lot, the running precisions were a first, as were the front flips from height. Next time I'm in Torbay I'll try and get some footage along the coast as there are so many PK opportunities around beaches.

Description
This was a very poorly organized jam, which I only just managed to make it to. This video (without the 3 minutes of bails) acted as the second part of the full video I used for my art gcse. Filmed at the second time I went to Woking gym, this video features myself (Mini Dave) and Pete from Silent Motion, along with Dan, Ali and Rob. The last part of this video is solely compiled of retarded bits, and bails filmed at the session. I was in a bit of an immature mood when I edited this, hence the flashing ‘tard’ parts. There are a couple of clips from the Le parkour video in here that somehow managed to render with the rest of this video, but I’m lazy and can’t be assed to render it again so it’ll have to do!

Description
Very much an impromptu gym session - I was told just minutes before I had to leave. Three attended: Myself (Danny), Dom and Andy. This was one of our first gym sessions in a long time, and for 2 of us (myself and Dom), the first time in a properly equipped gym. For that reason it proved to be very progressive, even if the focus was more upon tricking than Parkour.

Silent Motion Bails

This is just a montage of all the bails I had filmed over about a year or so. It isn’t a particularly good video in any respects, but there are a couple of jewels in there.

This film was mainly intended to showcase my progression over the course of my first year doing Parkour. Footage was used from January 2004 when I started, through to January2005. I intend to make a sequel to this video next January, to record my progression over the second year, so keep your eyes peeled for that when it comes out.

Description
A collection of some of the best moments caught on camera at jams in the berkshire area in january. The silent motion concept was formed arround christmas time and this video is the first to properly accnowledge this. Previously the videos were either made by r-pk or the rest of us as individuals. This video captures so much progression by so many people it's difficult to decide my favourite bits, although my dash vaults
and ian/danny's wall run up the pillar at mayors are perhaps the most memorable.

Description
I filmed this video in late 2004/early 2005, the footage mainly being from sessions rather than true filming days. I wanted to put across a slightly progressive feel with this video, the ambient music supposedly helping to keep the focus upon what was shown, not heard. i vaguely split it into 3 sections - intro, Parkour, and tricking. The tricking section contains some stuff that I have not done in more recent times, so i still think the video is quite special. The name refers to my feelings at the time - I feel it was at around this point that i began to truly understand Parkour, as it was making its way into my everyday life more and more often.
